In the interest of making this place more tolerable, where would one be able to acquire roses? I wish to start a garden.

Or are we incapable of having even that meager luxury?

Yes, well, look at it from my perspective.

People don't wither and die if you forget to water them every few days. Or however often you need to do so with roses.

If you withheld drink from a human for a number of days, he would die. And roses don't have a fragile little ego in constant need of reassurance in order to thrive.

Exactly. Most humans requires that water be actively withheld from them.

And isn't there an old theory that talking to plants help them grow better?

People grow weak and lazy, accustomed to having things given to them on a platter. You overestimate their ability to care for themselves in the face of any remote difficulty.
